Water Mist Operation will Continue until Tomorrow

The Jakarta Provincial Government continues to make efforts to handle the impact of volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau, one of which is through water mist operations or high-pressure water spraying.

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung said water mist operations will continue until Tuesday (9/8) in collaboration with the Fire Handling and Rescue Agency, BPBD, and Satpol PP.

In addition to relying on facilities owned by the Jakarta Provincial Government, Pramono also appealed to building managers who have similar facilities to operate them to reduce the impact of volcanic ash.

"We will continue to use water misting until tomorrow. We have asked buildings with water misting facilities to do so," said Pramono at City Hall, Monday (9/7).

The eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau also impacted the implementation of Car Free Day (HBKB). Therefore, the implementation of Car Free Day last Sunday was accelerated to avoid disrupting public health.

The Jakarta Provincial Government also distributed free masks to people passing by on several roads and public facilities.

"Yesterday at 9 AM Car Free Day was closed and immediately there was a distribution of masks, we sprayed along the road, and so on," added Pramono.

Pramono ensured that the Jakarta Provincial Government continues to make various efforts to maintain public health, including plans for Weather Modification Operations to deal with the impact of this volcanic ash.

"It's predicted that there's a good chance of cloud cover on the 7 and 8 September. If possible, I've asked the Disaster Management Agency, which has the authority, to conduct an OMC. So, once again, we're doing everything we can," Pramono emphasized.
